Taken on one of the ledges of Virgin River Canyon in the northeaster tip of Arizona where I-15 passes through Nevada, Arizona into Utah.

The Joshua tree has a unique appearance with many stories and songs written of this desert palm. It’s scientific name is Yucca Brevifolia but locally referred to as Joshua tree, yucca palm, tree yucca and desert dagger by the Spanish. The name "Joshua tree" came about when Mormon settlers crossing the desert likened the Yuca to the image of Joshua the biblical story in which Joshua keeps his hands reached out to guide the Israelites in unto the promised land.
